SUMMARY

     Synopsis of Bill

HJM 61 requests that the Highway and Transportation Department investigate and begin the process of renaming US Highway 666 Senator John Pinto Highway. Copies of the memorial are to be transmitted to the Governor and the Secretary of Highway and Transportation Department.

     Significant Issues

The State Highway and Transportation Department notes that State Highway 264 was memorialized by the State Highway Commission as the Senator John Pinto Highway in October 1992.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The cost to rename US Highway 666 would be minimal, possibly $10.0 or less.  The Department would need to place signs at the beginning and end of the Highway in both directions. The signs would cost $1.0-$2.0 per sign.

RELATIONSHIP

HJM61 relates to HJM60 and SJM 49 that ask that US Highway 666 be renumbered.
