A JOINT RESOLUTION

PROPOSING A LONG-TERM LEASE OF THE PENITENTIARY OF NEW MEXICO'S OLD MAIN FACILITY PROPERTY TO SANTA FE COUNTY.



BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

WHEREAS, Section 13-6-3 NMSA 1978 requires ratification and approval of any sale, trade or lease of state property over one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) in value; and

WHEREAS, the property control division of the general services department is desirous of leasing the penitentiary of New Mexico's old main facility to Santa Fe county for a period not to exceed ninety-nine years; and

WHEREAS, Santa Fe county desires to lease the property for the purpose of constructing a new public safety training facility for fire, rescue, emergency medical services, law enforcement and corrections facility agencies in north-central New Mexico; and

WHEREAS, the real property, with improvements, is located on state highway 14, within Santa Fe county, and consists of several vacant buildings, including the administrative building of the old main facility and approximately fifty acres; and

WHEREAS, the state of New Mexico shall retain appropriate right-of-way easements and provide ingress and egress to Santa Fe county; and

WHEREAS, the lease shall be subject to reservations, restrictions or easements of record;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the proposed lease be hereby ratified and approved pursuant to the provisions of Section 13-6-3 NMSA 1978; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the property control division of the general services department.
