AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT TO SUPPORT PERSONS EMPLOYED AS EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHERS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN HIGHER EDUCATION COURSES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the temporary assistance for needy families block grant to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 by the office of child development to contract with persons employed as early childhood teachers enrolled in a degree course at a post-secondary educational institution to improve their employment skills. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the temporary assistance for needy families block grant.
