    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

SENATE JOINT MEMORIAL 17

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

    1. On page 1, line 11, strike "ASSOCIATION PROVIDE" and insert in lieu thereof "BOARD STUDY".

    2. On page 1, line 14, strike "New Mexico educational retiree association" and insert in lieu thereof "Educational Retirement Act".

    3. On page 1, line 21, strike "association".

    4. On page 2, line 3, strike "association" and on page 2, line 4, strike "provide" and insert in lieu thereof "board be requested to study".

    5. On page 2, line 5, strike "association retirees" and insert in lieu thereof "recipients".

    6. On page 2, between lines 5 and 6, insert the following new paragraphs:

    "BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the educational retirement board report its findings from the study to the legislative education study committee by December 31, 2004; and

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the educational retirement board be requested to file in duplicate with the legislative council service any written report provided to the legislative education study committee with respect to the study; and".

7. On page 2, line 6, strike "a copy" and insert in lieu

thereof "copies".

    8. On page 2, line 7, strike "association" and insert in lieu thereof "board and the legislative education study committee".

and thence referred to the FINANCE COMMITTEE.
