A MEMORIAL

WISHING THE 1115TH TRANSPORTATION COMPANY OF THE NEW MEXICO ARMY NATIONAL GUARD GODSPEED AS IT EMBARKS ON ITS ACTIVE DUTY ASSIGNMENT TO IRAQ.

 

     WHEREAS, on January 7, 2004, the New Mexico army national guard's 1115th transportation company, consisting of one hundred twenty members from Taos, embarked on a military mission to bring peace to Iraq; and

     WHEREAS, family, friends and loved ones gathered on January 6 to say goodbye and pray for their safe return; and

     WHEREAS, the United States department of the army activated the guard unit just a few days before Christmas on December 22; and

     WHEREAS, family support units have been set up to assist families left behind to adjust to life without their loved ones and breadwinners; and

     WHEREAS, the army national guard is made up of friends and neighbors with dependent spouses and children left behind to worry and to hope;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that thoughts and prayers for a safe and successful mission be extended to the soldiers and their families; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the members of the 1115th transportation company of the New Mexico army national guard.
