FOR THE INDIAN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CULTURAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT TO SUPPORT A CONFERENCE FOR NATIVE LANGUAGE AUTHORS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Ten thousand dollars ($10,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the cultural affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to contract for a conference to be located in New Mexico to recognize and provide an opportunity for authors from New Mexico, the United States and other countries who write in their native language to share their work with other authors and the public and to network with other authors to learn ways to improve their writing and disseminate their work to a wider audience. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
