AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR STATEWIDE SUPPLEMENTAL SCIENCE EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to contract with a science center and children's museum for science education programming to supplement school science activities, including inquiry-based educational experiences throughout the state, overnight science experiences, classroom explorations, early childhood science programming and professional development and curriculum materials for teachers and early childhood educators. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
