    Your BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE BILL 224

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

     1. On page 2, line 3, after "governor" insert "or the lieutenant governor's designee".

     2. On page 2, line 8, after "regions" insert a period and strike the remainder of the line.

     3. On page 2, strike lines 9 through 21 and insert in lieu thereof:

     "The advisory committee shall have a subcommittee on financial independence that shall identify and propose strategies to foster financial independence and asset building. The subcommittee shall consist of seven members appointed by the director from the following interests:

                (1) the New Mexico mortgage finance authority;

                (2) the New Mexico small business development center;

                (3) the New Mexico small business investment corporation;

                (4) credit unions;

                (5) nonprofit organizations that promote asset building with low-income populations;

                (6) the public education department; and

                (7) the economic development department.".,

and thence referred to the APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE COMMITTEE.
