Mr. Speaker:

 

    Your CONSUMER AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

 

HOUSE BILL 246

 

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

 

     1. On page 1, line 11, after the semicolon insert "CLARIFYING CRIMINAL DEFINITION; REQUIRING POLICE REPORTS;".

 

     2. On page 5, between lines 2 and 3, insert the following new section:

 

     "Section 3. [NEW MATERIAL] IDENTITY THEFT REPORTS.--When a law enforcement officer interviews an alleged identity theft victim, the law enforcement officer shall make a written report of the information provided by the victim and any witnesses on appropriate forms provided by the attorney general. A copy of the police report shall be filed with the office of the attorney general.".

 

     3. Renumber succeeding sections accordingly.,

 

and thence referred to the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE.
