    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE BILL 286

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

    1. On page 1, line 12, before the period, insert "; PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR LEVEL THREE-A TEACHERS WHO DO NOT MEET ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES".

    2. On page 3, line 15, after the period, insert:

"If a level three-A teacher does not demonstrate essential competency in a given school year, the school district shall provide the teacher with additional professional development and peer intervention during the following school year. If by the end of that school year the teacher fails to demonstrate essential competency, a school district may choose not to contract with the teacher to teach in the classroom.".,

and thence referred to the FINANCE COMMITTEE.
