AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO EXPAND AND OPERATE A SHORT-TERM ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT FACILITY AND TO ESTABLISH A SHORT-TERM OR CRISIS RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM IN DONA ANA COUNTY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. One million seven hundred thousand dollars ($1,700,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to expand and operate a short-term assessment and treatment facility in Dona Ana county to augment the services currently being provided by the Las Vegas medical center and to serve southern New Mexico.

          B. Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to establish a short-term or crisis residential program in Dona Ana county for persons in need of intensive psychiatric support who do not meet the criteria for inpatient admission or who are being discharged from an inpatient psychiatric setting.

          C. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
