    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

SENATE BILL 69

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

    1. On page 1, line 12, after "HONORS" insert "OR SIMILAR ACADEMICALLY RIGOROUS".

    2. On page 1, lines 12 and 13, strike "GRADES BEGINNING WITH GRADE SIX" and insert in lieu thereof "HIGH SCHOOLS".

    3. On pages 1 through 5, strike Sections 1 and 2 in their entirety and insert in lieu thereof:

    "Section 1. A new section of the Public School Code is enacted to read:

    "[NEW MATERIAL] HONORS OR SIMILAR CLASSES IN MATHEMATICS AND LANGUAGE ARTS.--Beginning with the 2006-2007 school year, each school district shall offer at least one honors or similar academically rigorous class each in mathematics and language arts in each high school."".
