FOR THE INDIAN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO TRAIN AND EMPLOY RECENT COLLEGE GRADUATES AS TEACHERS IN THE GALLUP-McKINLEY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to contract with a program to train and employ, for at least a two-year commitment, recent college graduates as teachers in the Gallup-McKinley county public schools. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
