AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE SCIENCE INSTRUCTION FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS AND TEACHERS IN SANTA FE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to contract with a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving science education in Santa Fe to provide teacher training and in-class mentors and to integrate hands-on science techniques into standard curricula. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
