A JOINT MEMORIAL

DECLARING JANUARY 20, 2005 AS "THE FIREBALLS DAY".

 

     WHEREAS, on January 20, 1960, a group of high school friends from Raton, New Mexico, made music history by appearing on the most popular television music show of its kind, "American Bandstand"; and

     WHEREAS, George Tomsco, Stan Lark, Chuck Tharp, Eric Budd and Danny Trammell had not yet reached the ripe old age of twenty-one when they made their television debut as "The Fireballs"; and

     WHEREAS, The Fireballs, now composed of original members, Chuck Tharp, Stan Lark and George Tomsco, are still performing nationwide to enthusiastic audiences; and

     WHEREAS, January 20, 2005 is the forty-fifth anniversary of this wonderful achievement by four teenagers from northeastern New Mexico;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that January 20, 2005 be declared "The Fireballs Day" at the legislature, in recognition of that historic event.
