A MEMORIAL

PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 25, 2005 AS "HOMETOWN NEWS DAY" AT THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

 

     WHEREAS, the state's community news media are central to New Mexico's way of life; and

     WHEREAS, from the daily headline to the local high school game, from health advisories to weather alerts and from the departure of loved ones to the introduction of new arrivals, the news coverage by community news media keeps New Mexico communities tightly connected and strong; and

     WHEREAS, community news media perform a great service to their communities, the great state of New Mexico and the country;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 25, 2005 be proclaimed "Hometown News Day" at the house of representatives and that recognition be extended to New Mexico's hometown newspapers, radio stations and television stations that keep the state's communities informed daily; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the house of representatives honors the publishers, editors and reporting staffs for their hard work in keeping the state's small communities uniquely New Mexican.
