SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 141 appropriates $50,000 from the general fund to the Cultural Affairs Department
(DCA) for performances of traditional and contemporary Native American performing arts in
Santa Fe to educate schoolchildren and the general public about Native American culture and
traditions and to encourage new performing arts talent.
Significant Issues
According to DIA, HB 141 would address the need to support Native American cultural events
and performances that educate the general public about New Mexico’s Native American culture,
heritage and history.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $50,000 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the geneal fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY06 would revert to the general
fund.
