SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 592 appropriates $100,000 from the general fund to the Local Government Division
of the Department of Finance and Administration to operate a 48-bed transitional housing facility
to be located on land purchased by Bernalillo County for the metro assessment and treatment
services program, contingent on funding the construction of the transitional housing facility.
Significant Issues
Bernalillo County has developed a three-phase strategy to provide treatment for DWI offenders,
including increasing the availability of transitional housing. HB592 would help support the op-
erating costs of this effort to combat DWI.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $100,000 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY06 shall revert to the gen-
eral fund.
