SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
This memorial expresses support for the Hogback Bridge Project located on the Navajo Reserva-
tion in San Juan County.
Significant Issues
This bridge which is to be located across the San Juan River would not be on the State Highway
System, but on the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) road system. As a result, BIA is completing
the planning for this project. The state does not have this project included in their Statewide
Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP) at this time.
This memorial has no funding included however, it does ask New Mexico’s Congressional Dele-
gation to support the project. If they do so with Earmark or other funds that could be used on the
state system and not Indian Reservation Road (IRR) funds then this could subtract from federal
funding that would be available to the State.
