SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 208 would expand the Museum Board of Regents of the Cultural Affairs Department
from seven to nine members.
Significant Issues
According to the Cultural Affairs Department, regents of the Museum of New Mexico, who are
appointed by the governor, serve as stewards of the cultural and historical resources of the state.
By enlarging membership on the Board, more representatives of the state’s diverse historical and
cultural communities can be assured a voice in protecting and preserving the New Mexico’s cul-
tural patrimony.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The fiscal impact of this bill would be minimal. If the two additional members receive per diem
