SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Joint Memorial 79 requests that the NMDOT expedite repairs to the Rio Grande bridge
on Highway 51 and to evaluate the bridge for long-term reconstruction.
Significant Issues
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
NMDOT indicates that in February 2005 the District 1 Engineer completed a STIP change in the
amount of $3.2 million to add this bridge and another on NM 51 to the design and construction
schedule. The District hopes for a fall of 2007 construction bid but that may be too optimistic.
The Transportation Commission approved this STIP change 2/17/05.
