SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

House Bill 832 appropriates $100,000 from the general fund to the Department of Finance and

Administration (DFA) for a domestic violence program in Torrance County.

Significant Issues

In 2002, there were more than 17,000 victims of domestic violence statewide. There were 15.8

incidents of domestic violence per every 1,000 population. HB832 would help address domestic

violence in Torrance County.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The appropriation of $100,000 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund.

Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY06 would revert to the

general fund.
