A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING PROPANE DEALERS TO NOTIFY THEIR CUSTOMERS OF THE STATE'S LOW-INCOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

 

     WHEREAS, heating costs are expected to increase significantly this winter; and

     WHEREAS, the legislature is considering Senate Bill 2 during this special session to provide financial assistance to low-income residents hurt by the increasing energy costs; and

     WHEREAS, the public service company of New Mexico has committed itself to assisting the program by informing its customers of the program; and

     WHEREAS, many of the residents most affected in New Mexico are rural, low-income propane customers;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that propane dealers be requested to inform their customers in English and in Spanish of the state's low-income energy assistance program; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to propane dealers statewide and to the New Mexico propane gas association.
