AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR TRUANCY AND DROPOUT PREVENTION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to provide one million two hundred seventy thousand dollars ($1,270,000) to the public education department to support truancy and dropout prevention initiatives for public schools in partnership with other community-based and state and local governmental agencies, and two hundred thirty thousand dollars ($230,000) to the second judicial district court for truancy court. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
