AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO INCREASE PROFITABILITY, YIELD AND SUSTAINABILITY OF THE CHILE INDUSTRY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred forty thousand dollars ($140,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to increase the profitability and yield of chile and to increase the economic sustainability of the New Mexico chile industry. New Mexico state university shall submit a plan for program evaluation, including specific program goals and criteria for assessing program effectiveness to the legislative finance committee and the higher education department by October 1, 2006. The university shall also submit a program evaluation to the legislative finance committee and the higher education department by June 30, 2009 detailing the benefits to the state of New Mexico from having the program implemented for a three-year period. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
