AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ENSURE EQUITY IN THE HIGHER EDUCATION FUNDING FORMULA FOR TWO-YEAR PUBLIC POST-SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS' SCIENCE COURSES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred eighty-two thousand dollars ($582,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the higher education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to equalize the higher education funding formula for two-year public post-secondary educational institutions' science courses with university lower-division science courses for those two-year institutions eligible for workload funding in fiscal year 2007. All future-year workload adjustments shall fund all lower-division science courses at the same rate. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
