    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

SENATE BILL 674

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

    1. On page 1, line 11, after "PROGRAM" insert "AND AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE ACCELERATED DEVELOPMENT OF A MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE AND READING COMPREHENSIVE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM".

    2. On page 1, line 15, strike "APPROPRIATION" and insert in lieu thereof "APPROPRIATIONS" and before "Fifty" insert the subsection designation "A.".

    3. On page 1, between lines 20 and 21, insert the following new subsection to read:

         "B. Six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico highlands university for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to support the accelerated development of a mathematics, science and reading comprehensive improvement program. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.".,

and thence referred to the FINANCE COMMITTEE.
