SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 712 appropriates $2,000.0 from the general fund to DCA to conserve and repair his-
toric furnishings and equipment at the Shuler Theater in Raton.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
House Bill 712 appropriates $2,000.0 from the general fund and is non-recurring. Any unex-
pended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
According to DCA, the Shuler Theater is listed in the New Mexico Cultural Properties list and is
a contributing resource in the Raton Downtown National Register Historic District.

DCA would enter into an agreement with the City of Raton to manage the work.
OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES
According to DCA, the intent of this bill is consistent with State Historic Preservation Office’s
responsibilities described in Section 18-6-7 of the Cultural Properties Act.
