the art world, its economic and educational contributions to New Mexico and its stewardship of
an invaluable portion of America’s artistic heritage.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is the most visited museum in New Mexico, with more than
165,000 visitors annually. The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is the only museum in the United
States dedicated to a single woman artist with international status and whose work is closely as-
sociated with New Mexico. The museum’s research center is the only one of its kind, focusing
on American modernism, giving scholarships annually to pre and post-doctoral students from the
nation’s most prestigious universities and making its unique archives accessible to researchers
worldwide.
