SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 550 appropriates $100.0 from the general fund to the Board of Regents of New Mex-
ico Highlands University (NMHU) for a men’s wrestling program.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $100,000 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert
to the general fund.

SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
This request was not on the list of priority projects submitted by NMHU to the Higher Education
Department for review and was not included in the Department’s funding recommendation for
fiscal year 2007.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
According to the Higher Education Department, NMHU reintroduced the Wrestling Program and
currently supports the coach and activities associated with the program.
CONFLICT, DUPLICATION, COMPANIONSHIP, RELATIONSHIP
Senate Bill 415 “State Agency Expenditures” includes $100,000 for the same purpose as this bill.
OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES
According to the Higher Education Department, for the FY05-06 Academic year, there are 17
students participating in NMHU's Wrestling Program.
