A MEMORIAL

PROCLAIMING TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2006, AS "NATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR THE MENTALLY ILL DAY" AT THE SENATE.

 

     WHEREAS, the national alliance for the mentally ill is the voice for the mentally ill in New Mexico and the nation; and

     WHEREAS, the national alliance for the mentally ill in New Mexico represents eighty thousand consumers and family members who must cope with mental illness; and

     WHEREAS, the national alliance for the mentally ill in New Mexico is the exemplary educator for the courts, law enforcement, health care and other providers and citizens on the need for treatment of and the reduction of the stigma of serious mental illness; and

     WHEREAS, Mabel Frary, now deceased, one of the pioneers and leaders who founded the national alliance for the mentally ill in New Mexico, is hereby honored on this day;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Tuesday, January 24, 2006, is hereby proclaimed "National Alliance for the Mentally Ill Day" at the senate to honor the many advocates who devote themselves to public policymaking on behalf of the thousands of voiceless New Mexicans who suffer from mental illness.
