AN ACT

RELATING TO WATER; PROVIDING FOR EXPENDITURE OF FEDERAL MONEY IN THE GILA RIVER BASIN PURSUANT TO THE ARIZONA WATER SETTLEMENTS ACT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. GILA SETTLEMENT MONEY TO BE EXPENDED PURSUANT TO THE ARIZONA WATER SETTLEMENTS ACT.--Sixty-six million dollars ($66,000,000) guaranteed to the state of New Mexico by the federal government pursuant to the Gila Settlement under the Arizona Water Settlements Act shall be divided equally between the four counties of southwestern New Mexico, Grant, Luna, Hidalgo and Catron counties, and expended for any water supply demand as defined in the Gila Settlement in accordance with Section 212(i) of the Arizona Water Settlements Act.
