FOR THE LEGISLATIVE EDUCATION STUDY COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A SUMMER SCIENCE PROGRAM AT NEW MEXICO INSTITUTE OF MINING AND TECHNOLOGY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-two thousand dollars ($72,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico institute of mining and technology for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to provide scholarships to cover the tuition for New Mexico high school students attending a summer science program. The program is intended to recruit New Mexico students considering careers in a scientific field. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
