AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A STATE SUPPLEMENT FOR FOOD STAMP ALLOTMENTS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND PERSONS WITH A DISABILITY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million two hundred thousand dollars ($1,200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to supplement the federal food stamp benefit for persons who are elderly or who have a disability and who currently receive the minimum food stamp benefit. The benefit shall be approximately twenty dollars ($20.00) per person. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
