AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ESTABLISH A TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE RESOURCE CENTER TO REDUCE DISPROPORTIONATE MINORITY YOUTH CONTACT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to establish a technical assistance resource center to support the disproportionate minority contact blue ribbon panel, which collaborates with the juvenile justice advisory committee, in its efforts to reduce disparate treatment of youth in the juvenile justice system. The center shall involve New Mexico institutions of higher education for assistance in research, curriculum development and training. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
