AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE OFFICE OF WORKFORCE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT TO FUND A SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PILOT PROGRAM IN NORTHERN NEW MEXICO; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the office of workforce training and development for expenditure in fiscal years 2007 and 2008 to fund a summer youth employment pilot program in Colfax, Mora, San Miguel, Taos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, San Juan, McKinley and Cibola counties. The pilot program shall serve as a model for a statewide summer youth employment program. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
