AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR EXPANSION OF SCREENING, BRIEF INTERVENTION, BRIEF TREATMENT AND REFERRAL TO MORE INTENSIVE TREATMENT FOR PERSONS AT RISK FOR DEPENDENCE ON ALCOHOL OR DRUGS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Eight hundred thousand dollars ($800,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to expand screening, brief intervention, brief treatment and referral to more intensive treatment for persons at risk for dependence on alcohol or drugs, adding and integrating services in general medical and nontraditional substance use treatment settings such as community health centers and hospital emergency departments. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
