AN ACT

RELATING TO ELECTIONS; REQUIRING THAT CERTAIN BALLOTS BE PRINTED ON DIFFERENT COLORED PAPER.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. A new section of the Election Code is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] BALLOTS--BALLOT COLOR.--Both provisional paper ballots and emergency paper ballots shall be printed on paper of a color easily distinguishable from the color of one another and from the color of other paper ballots."

     Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2007.
