AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF NEW MEXICO INSTITUTE OF MINING AND TECHNOLOGY FOR AN ORGANIZATION TO PREPARE STUDENTS FOR CAREERS IN MATHEMATICS, ENGINEERING AND THE SCIENCES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico institute of mining and technology for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 for an organization dedicated to preparing students for careers in mathematics, engineering and the sciences. The funding shall also be used in partnership with the New Mexico state university center for environmental monitoring in Carlsbad to develop energy curriculum and a one-week in-depth program. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
