AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO INCREASE THE REIMBURSEMENT RATE FOR HEARING AIDS FOR MEDICAID-ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred eighty-nine thousand dollars ($289,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to increase the reimbursement rate for hearing aids for medicaid-eligible individuals, not to exceed one thousand four hundred dollars ($1,400), and to increase the dispensing fee, not to exceed three hundred dollars ($300). The medical assistance division of the human services department shall maintain data on claims involving hearing aids to produce and report back to the legislative finance committee and the medicaid advisory committee. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
