    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE BILL 911

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

     1. On page 1, lines 14 and 15, strike "; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION".

     2. On page 1, line 21, after the dash insert the subsection designation "A.".

     3. On page 1, line 22, after "curricula" insert "to meet the state standards".

     4. On page 1, line 25, after the period, strike the remainder of the line and on page 2, strike all of lines 1 and 2 and insert in lieu thereof:

          "B. Each school district's aligned grade level and subject area curricula shall be in place as follows:

                (1) for mathematics, by the 2008-2009 school year; and

                (2) for language arts and science, by the 2009-2010 school year.

          C. Professional development relating to curricula for classroom teachers and educational assistants shall be aligned with state standards by each school district."".

     5. On pages 2 and 3, strike Section 2 in its entirety.,

and thence referred to the APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE COMMITTEE.
