AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR NATIVE AMERICAN ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT TO NATIVE AMERICAN WOMEN AND CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO VIOLENCE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred sixty thousand dollars ($260,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the Indian affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to contract with a coalition of Native American organizations to provide assistance and support to Native American women and children who have been subjected to violence, including domestic violence, sexual assault, battering and stalking. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
