AN ACT

RELATING TO LEGISLATION; CHANGING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE COMMISSION FOR THE PROMOTION OF UNIFORMITY OF LEGISLATION IN THE UNITED STATES; PROVIDING FOR EXPENSES OF CERTAIN MEMBERS TO BE REIMBURSED PURSUANT TO THE PER DIEM AND MILEAGE ACT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. Section 2-4-1 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1967, Chapter 234, Section 1, as amended) is amended to read:

     "2-4-1. COMMISSION FOR THE PROMOTION OF UNIFORMITY OF LEGISLATION IN THE UNITED STATES.--

          A. There is created a "commission for the promotion of uniformity of legislation in the United States". Its membership shall consist of:

                [A.] (1) two members appointed by the New Mexico legislative council, who shall be members of the legislature;

                [B.] (2) four members of the New Mexico bar, who shall be appointed by the New Mexico legislative council and who shall serve on the commission at their own expense;

                [C.] (3) the dean of the university of New Mexico law school or [his] the dean's designee; [and

                D.] (4) the director of the legislative council service, who shall serve ex officio; and

                (5) any long-term member of the commission who has been designated a life member by the national conference of commissioners on uniform state laws.

          B. The members shall be known as the "commissioners for the promotion of uniformity of legislation in the United States".

          C. Members of the commission shall not be paid, but those members serving pursuant to Paragraphs (2) and (5) of Subsection A of this section shall be reimbursed for expenses as provided for nonsalaried public officers pursuant to the Per Diem and Mileage Act."
