AN ACT

RELATING TO EDUCATION; PROVIDING FOR A STUDY OF DUAL CREDIT EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN SECONDARY AND POST-SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN NEW MEXICO.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. STUDY OF DUAL CREDIT EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN NEW MEXICO.--The higher education department shall study dual credit education programs in New Mexico and prepare a report on the findings of that study. The study shall:

          A. be based on two school districts that are paired with colleges or universities with dual credit agreements;

          B. analyze two or more years of student data;

          C. document the definition and flow of students who participate in dual credit programs;

          D. use student reporting data to trace the flow of funds through the higher education department and public education department formulas;

          E. quantify student costs of participation, including tuition, books, fees and transportation;

          F. report outcomes for students participating in dual credit courses, including grade point averages, number of courses taken, number of students graduated and number of college credits earned; and

          G. recommend a method of dual credit funding.
