AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS DECONTAMINATION TRAINING TO EMERGENCY RESPONDERS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to contract for services with New Mexico-resident vendors for state-of-the-art training, using concurrent performance feedback, of volunteer and full-time firefighters, law enforcement personnel and other emergency responders to decontaminate people involved in a hazardous materials, radioactive or terrorism event. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
