AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION IN SUPPORT OF EDUCATION FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE STATEWIDE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal years 2007 and 2008 for a New Mexico coalition against domestic violence to include training and education to member programs, communities, public schools and other agencies that identify or provide services to families dealing with the effects of domestic violence. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
