AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A PROMISE FOR SUCCESS PROGRAM.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 for the Gadsden independent school district to implement a promise for success program by:

                (1) creating a community-based comprehensive plan or strategies to reduce the number of incidences within Dona Ana county of abuse, neglect, juvenile delinquency, truancy, youth runaways, substance abuse and other related matters;

                (2) assessing existing youth services and identifying gaps in services available; and

                (3) identifying funding opportunities.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of the fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
