AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR COMMUNITY SCHOOLS IN ALBUQUERQUE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to replace federal funds for twenty-first century learning centers at Barelas, Kirtland, La Luz and Whittier elementary schools in the Albuquerque public schools. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.

          B. One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 for the Albuquerque public schools to amend its facilities master plan to identify community school facilities at each school site. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.

          C. One hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($175,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for the college of education to train Albuquerque public schools' community school coordinators, principals, other key staff, volunteers and community members. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.

          D. Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for students at the college of education to create and maintain a database of existing community schools programs. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.

          E. One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for the college of education to provide other services to the community schools program of the Albuquerque public schools. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
