AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR SANTA FE PUBLIC SCHOOLS SPECIAL PROGRAMS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Three hundred thirty thousand dollars ($330,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure by the Santa Fe public schools in fiscal year 2008 for two special programs as follows:

                (1) eighty-two thousand dollars ($82,000) for a professional development program for middle and high school teachers who will become a leadership group to promote training for improved student-teacher relations districtwide; and

                (2) two hundred forty-eight thousand dollars ($248,000) for a program designed to close the achievement gap through after-school programs.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
