AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND FAMILY OUTREACH.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Four hundred ten thousand dollars ($410,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 for:

                (1) professional development for educators in the area of autism spectrum disorders, including graduate-level coursework leading to an autism transcripted certificate;

                (2) ongoing classroom consultations for educators statewide; and

                (3) outreach to students and their families.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
